HELPING HANDS. REBUILDING HOPES.
An employee of Prana Resorts & Spa lost her home to flash floods in early November. The staff of Q Lifestyle in Singapore and Thailand came together to help rebuild her home.
The torrential rain and flash floods that ravaged the island of Koh Samui last November, also caused significant damage to Prana. However, the greatest loss was suffered by khun Malee Rungtong, a gardener who looks after the gorgeous landscaping of our resort. She lost her home and all her possessions when flood waters submerged her house and swept away her belongings.s
Hearing of her plight, the HR department of Q Lifestyle Singapore sent out an appeal to all staff asking for their kind contributions to help K. Malee rebuild her home. In a short span of two weeks, the collective contributions of her concerned colleagues added up to 25,000 BHT. With this amount, she was able to purchase basic necessities such as a gas stove, cooker, refrigerator, crockery and utensils. The surplus cash will help K.Malee get through this tumultuous period.
This unfortunate incident, thankfully, has a happy ending, and is truly a heart-warming example of how, every contribution, regardless of size, plays an important part. The united efforts of the staff at Q Lifestyle staff have not only helped to rebuild a home and hope, but also reflect the belief in the vision of our parent company, the QI Group - ‘To make a difference in every life that we touch.’

Prana successfully steers the Skippers’ VIP Reception at the Samui Regatta 2010
On a sultry evening last Tuesday, 1 June, Prana Resorts and Spa played host to about 80 VIP guests from the Samui Regatta 2010, entertaining them with a tempting spread of vegetarian canapé, free flow of wine and champagne, chilled out lounge music, and the view of a spectacular sunset from the resort’s pool deck.
The guests were primarily the skippers and their partners who were participating in the annual Samui Regatta from 31 May to 5 June, some local and foreign media, as well as GMs from other resorts on Samui. The Regatta, now into its 9th year, has cemented its importance to the Asian yachting scene by being the last Regatta in the Asian Yachting Grand Prix series, and attracted more than 300 participants from around the globe this year. The Regatta garners a lot of media coverage and generates millions for the island’s economy.
The staff at Prana worked hard all day to ensure the evening’s event would be smooth sailing, setting up the bar, re-arranging the furniture, and preparing a visually stunning spread of food which received much praise from the guests. Many were very surprised at how good vegetarian food could taste. Chef Jonny mingled with guests, answering their questions about his culinary creations such as the Mushroom Skewers in Paenang Curry, Beetroot Sushi, Mussaman Curry Filo Triangles, and Homemade Mushroom Ravioli with Truffle Sauce.
Wendy Phay, Assistant General Manager of Prana, said, "We’re delighted to be able to sponsor this reception and be part of the Samui Regatta activities. It’s an event that gets a lot of media focus, so this is yet another way of creating a buzz about Prana, which is already seeing increased awareness among the islanders and visitors due to our ‘Vegetarian with a Twist’ campaign for Amala Restaurant, and the regular themed events that we host."
